This guy = still available
So last night I made my first entree into the world of fantasy football. Yes -- I know CDs are now available to replace my tapes as well. Anyway, we had a 10-team, 23-round snake draft last night. Took three hours (very painful). I've listed my team below, so let me know what you think. We have to play two QBs, 2 RBs, 4 WRs, 1 TE, 2 PKs and 2 defenses each week. My team will likely (hugely) suck, but such is life.
I am somewhat curious why the fantasy phenomenon never caught on at the college level. Especially since most leagues are not "keeper" leagues, college fantasy football would seem like a logical next step. Again, maybe people are playing it all over and it is just me that is missing it.
In other sports news....go Phillies. The rest of baseball becomes irrelevant as my Phils get closer to the wild card. I am headed to RFK (aka the worst stadium in the history of mankind) tonight to see them play the Nats.
Finally, I am flying into Chicago late Friday night and headed to SB early Saturday morning. Should be good times.

Not a bad team there Speaker. As I look through it:
QB: Good job with Palmer and Simms. Griese was a smart pick because he'll be the Bears starter soon for one of two reasons 1) Grossman stinks, but more importantly 2) Grossman has played in a total of SIX games in 3 years. I can hear his leg snapping by week 2.
RB: You're safe with Cadillac, but I'll be interested to see how the other 3 far as your backup.
WR: Put Williams on the waiver wire. Hearing out here that the Lions are planning on demoting Williams soon.
Good luck with your first game next week!!!
I'm interested to see what your post for tomorrow will be, but here's some fodder: Week 1 Fearless Predictions.

As I look thru the list I think these teams will get some early scares:
#1 Ohio State will watch NIU's Garrett Wolfe keep the game very close as he puts up 100+ yds against their new defense.
#7 West Virginia will squeak by (and possibly lose to) Marshall in a rivalry game.
#10 FSU vs #11 Miami. Who cares?
#19 Penn St's new team will have to find a way to get against Akron's team that has nothing to lose.
#20 Oregon vs a very good sleeper team in Stanford.
...
and my upset of the week is seeing Hawaii learning a lot from the Cotton Bowl demise of Texas Tech. They'll knock off #24 Alabama.
Looks good Speaks. I've never had a fantasy team, but Geaux Irish has a good point about dumping Williams at WR. I've heard the same thing that he is pretty much toast in Deez-troit (plus he was a Trojan). Should be interesting to see how Randel El does with the Skins. Good luck!
Since you haven't posted anything since the ND/GaTech game, I'll go ahead and say it:
WHEW!
