...on Saturday for two friends from D.C., and of course, the wedding begins at 3:30. I think to myself, no problem, the Irish are supposed to beat UCLA by two touchdowns. I brought my cell phone/PDA with me knowing that I could (1) log onto the internet and get delayed scores and (2) get text messages from my brother-in-law with the score. As an aside, who gets married on a Saturday in the fall? Especially people our age? Priorities, people.
So what happens? ND scores first (this is during the ceremony when I get the score), and all is well. Then UCLA scores - and then scores again. Now I am a little worried. We've moved into the reception portion of the wedding (pre-dinner). I am, at this point, nervously checking the scores every few minutes.
Long story short - we end up leaving the wedding because the little one is becoming uncontrollable, and get back in the car with UCLA punting. ND gets the ball back with 1:02. The rest is absolute beauty.
A couple of things about the game: from everything I've heard, the O-line played atrociously. That needs to change in a hurry. Also, ND had better beat USC. As they continue to slip in the polls and the BCS while winning, a loss to USC could knock us out of contention for a BCS bowl game. The Gator Bowl doesn't sound real enjoyable right now.

A few impressions of the game from my seat in Section 120, Row 2:
1) The Pac-10 refs are just as bad as the Big 10 refs. Come to think about it, when was the last time we had bad Pac-10 refs at ND Stadium? Oh, right, when they missed the Bush Push last year vs. USC. Twerps.
2) The OL looked very bad. No push, and poor containment.
3) I'm not sure if this was a good measuring stick game for the Irish. UCLA has a good defense, and a slowly improving offense. Conveniently we held their offense, while their defense caused us fits.
4) The stadium started to have "that feeling" in the 4th quarter where folks were standing for most of the quarter. They knew it was going to be close (just not THAT close)!
Oh, and two comments on other games:
1) Nebraska, nice job running the clock out & maintaining possession against Texas.
2) Northwestern/Michigan state pulled a Houston Oilers/Buffalo Bills type of performance. Regardless, JLS is gone from Mich St at the end of the year.
Also in Section 120, Row 2 and completely agree with Geaux Irish. The refs were terrible and the O-Line has got to improve. They were the one thing we shouldn't have had to worry about when the season started!
At the rate we are going in the polls, we could be 10-1 going to USC, yet ranked 20th!
You gotta love the Bruin fan sitting in front of us shedding a few tears after the game...and the people sitting in the rows above him breaking out their camera phones capturing the moment.
Wouldn't the Cotton Bowl be a possibility as a result of their agreement with the Gator Bowl?
Possibly. I think they pay out $2 million, so it would be a nice consolation prize to add to the $1 million we're guaranteed by the poor Kevin White/B(c)S deal.
